Hi Ryan,
My name is Joan and we have never met, although my sister, Susan, has purchased several hats for me from you.  I was diagnosed with a very aggressive breast cancer last year.  After undergoing a mastectomy, I was subjected to a very powerful chemotherapy cocktail.  My hair started falling out in clumps and I had to get my head shaved.  It was fall by then and my head was so very cold.  It actually hurt to wear the hats which I already had.  When my sister saw your hats, you helped her find the softest one and she sent it to me (I live in Appomattox, VA).  Life was so much better with your hat.  My head wasn't cold and it didn't hurt while I wore your hat.  My lack of hair wasn't quite so obvious either.  She subsequently got me two more the next time she saw you.  
I just wanted to thank you for making such a wonderful product and I will be wearing them again this year, although my hair is growing back.  I will highly recommend your hats to other people.

I wanted to say thank you for the high quality hats you make.  I carry your hat (a green and black beannie) in my winter coat pocket and wear it all the time in the winter. It doesn't matter if I am hiking, working in the yard, or walking down the street on a business trip. If it is cold out, your beanie is on my head. The high quality and long lasting materials you use make this 11 years beanie a real bargain price wise (something like $1.70 a year at today's prices).

About the fleece


Most of my fleece is made by Malden Mills here in the USA.  It is the best fleece available that does not pill or degrade like cheaper imported fabrics.  You can learn more by visiting Polartec®

Technical Highlights

Provides warmth without the weight and bulk of traditional insulating fabrics

Highly breathable to provide comfort in all activities; does not restrict the movement of moisture vapor

Dries quickly to minimize heat loss

Durable; will outlast other imported fleece fabrics. It does not pill up like the cheep imitations.  Plus it is made in the USA!

Machine washable.  Please turn hats with eyes inside out to protect them.

Versatile; appropriate for a broad range of activities

Much of the fleece is made from recycled soda pop bottles!


I work with different thicknesses which provide different levels of insulation for outdoor activities. 

100 weight fabrics are the lightest and are excellent for a warm first layer, for heavy aerobic activity such as running or for  warmer climates.

200 weight is about twice as thick as 100wt.  It is the normal weight that jackets are made of.  It provides outstanding warmth and versatility.

300 weight is the thickest.  It provides the most warmth.  It normally is too thick for most hats

Berber  is a special fleece that is nubbly on the outside with a smooth face for the inside.   Many folks enjoy the texture of this fabric.  It is not as wind resistant as regular fleece.
